Mario Bava was the photographer cutting his teeth here in 1959 with Italian horror master Ricardo Freda providing the direction. The original Italian print featured erotica and torture which were cut for the American and British release. Steve Reeves is pictured as the rebel chief complete with spiked boots as he takes on the Tsar's army.
