The Sound and the Fury

The printed signature of the artist "Chantrell" is to be found on this first release 20th Century Fox CinemaScope British quad film poster from 1959. This Great British artist captures the look of the young Joanne Woodward perfectly in the arms of a young Yul Brynner complete with hair. The film poster has a very Southern look and the colours are a nod to the companion film also a William Faulkner adaption with the same director and screen writers and leading lady - "The Long, Hot Summer". Printed by Stafford & Co. of Netherfield, Nottingham & London we have very bright colours on the film poster for what was a black and white film with just a tiny circular hole at the top right and a closed tear at the top right border edge as seen.
