Eric Pulford

This 1955 Ealing Studios film poster was printed by Charles & Read Ltd. of London & Harlow and painted by Eric Pulford. Pulford was responsible for at least 1000 film poster designs over nearly fifty years and he ran the Downtons agency. His artwork here portrays a wonderful choppy sea complete with a struggle between two smugglers on a motor torpedo boat which they had reconditioned following the Second World War and they then turned their hand to illicit smuggling. This folded film poster has two pinholes in each corner and at the left corner above the words 'Ealing Studios' lies a small circular green amateur restoration which actually disguises some numbers which were written on the poster. On the reverse is an interesting green oval stamp dated 17 Jun 1955.
