The Secret Place

This is the very first film poster ever painted by the great Italian artist Arnaldo Putzu and it was for the British Crime melodrama set in the East End of London. The colours are deep and vibrant and this film poster is very special with detail precisely where it is needed including a great coloured window silhouette and broad sweeping movement adding vitality. Arnaldo Putzu would have painted this poster in Italy not being lured to work in England until February 1967. The artist has painted here a wonderful flowing portrait of Belinda Lee who sadly died a few years later in a car crash in Italy.
