Back in 1970 many found it difficult to embrace the possibility of a loving couple both in wheelchairs able to enjoy a sexual relationship. The artist Arnaldo Putzu cleverly uses a grey wash in order to remove the mechanics of the situation in order that we may focus on "Bruce and Jill, the extraordinary lovers" in the absense of all that is ordinary. Nanette Newman under the direction of her real life husband Bryan Forbes is painted brilliantly to portray that look of blissful happiness and hope that can transcend all limitations.
