The Man in the Iron Mask

This great British Quad film poster is for the 1939 film directed by the great James Whale. This film marked the movie debut of Peter Cushing in the role of the King's messenger witnessing fine performances from Louis Hayward as Louis XIV, Joan Bennett as Maria Theresa, and Warren William as D'Artagnan. The artwork on this poster has a riveting steely look and is entirely in keeping with the theme of the film. It also has the Metropolis look and an almost robotic appearance which is interesting because if you were wearing a metal mask for a period of years this would be appropriate. The film poster is a re-release possibly from the early 60's. Blue biro on reverse which does not show through, folded condition with no pinholes. Small degree of mirror printing as seen.
