1936

Grace Moore, Franchot Tone, Dir: Josef vin Sternberg

Sumptuous colours on this 1936 set of lobby cards for "The King Steps Out". Pictured is Miss Grace Moore as the princess together with the emperor played by Franchot Tone. There is a delightful illustration of the couple again in the left hand corner together with a lovely old Columbia Pictures logo at the bottom right. The film was made in black and white but cinema goers were more than happy to see full colour lobby card pictures in the foyer. Sadly the opera soprano Grace Moore was to make only three more pictures before she died in an air crash in 1947. On the title card there is a closed tear at the bottom left corner and two smaller closed tears at the bottom border. Other cards have marks and pinholes as seen. Please note two of the cards are the same picture as seen.
