The Great Escape

Terrific artwork with Steve McQueen leading "The Great Escape" prisoners of war as they make their way to freedom from the Nazi's. Great artwork picturing the Nazi guards searchlight from the guard tower as the prisoners find out they have had delays in finally exiting the tunnel which actually falls short of the woods putting them in more danger. Printing is by Lichtert of Bruxelles. This is a 1970's re-release film poster. Historically at the top edge of the poster there was a show times snipe which had been removed by the time we acquired this poster and this left a piece of the original paper being lost at the top right corner - we have replaced this with similar paper from the era and used conservation tape to secure it at the reverse. There is a bit of paper lift in this area where the sticker was attached previously. Otherwise the colours are really deep and the poster displays really well with just faint crease marks of a vertical and horizontal fold line.
