The Getaway

When we did the shows we used to place the 1972 version of "The Getaway" adjacent to this 1979 version in our browsers. We used to make a point of canvassing opinion on which people preferred. It became apparent that at least 9 out of 10 people preferred the above one despite it being the re-release from 1979 and not the original release version from 1972. This is unusual for film posters as most collectors nearly always prefer the original, even when re-releases are very good and have more colour. This goes to show what a great job Arnaldo Putzu did with the artwork and we feel sure this one will grow in popularity. The artists printed signature is featured on the film poster in orange at the mid-left. This great Italian artist has captured the determined expressions of Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw perfectly and the explosive artwork really typifies the work of the director Sam Peckinpah. Printed in England by W. E. Berry of Bradford. This film poster is in amazing rolled condition.
