The Evil Dead

The dimensions for this poster are wholly accurate and it has not been trimmed! All the "Evil Dead" posters are the same dimensions. Palace Pictures were very heavily into video and this was sold on video at full retail at the same time as the cinema release. Nik Powell ran Palace Pictures and was very forward thinking. The design almost seems to have a video look to it. The design by artist Graham Humphreys is credited on the film poster and has proved to become a classic as is the film directed by Sam Raimi. The colours are really bright with the film poster displaying really well without pinholes. This film poster has been cinema used and is really interesting because the cinema has used a subtle green slime colour to lessen the impact of "Now on Video" in the bottom right corner. Video was of course a major competitor to the cinema industry in 1981 and Nik Powell of Palace Pictures released the film at the cinema and on video at the same time. It's an interesting piece of cinema history that not all cinema owners appreciated this on the poster! Please note there is a 3 inch closed tear to the mid right border edge which we have repaired with archival restoration tape to the reverse.
