The Day the Earth Stood Still

Original 1951 publicity / cinema still for the science fiction classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still". This is a posed publicity photograph with Klaatu played by Michael Rennie standing beside Gort the giant robot. This is an American issued still with studio produced by 20th Century Fox with their production number 824-Ad-C-3 with AD identifying the advertising/ publicity department series and C-3 being the individual still number within that series. The reverse has an interesting story with a handwritten French title, a blue archive stamp together with inventory numbers and Radio 54 number. This means that the still spent many years in French archives with broadcasters, newspapers radio station and television companies. This is an iconic publicity image from the film and highly collectible being used in promoting the film during its original release and later re-issues.
