The Day of the Locust

1975 was very much the year for stylish airbrush artwork and this was a theme to continue throughout the decade. Karen Black gets the treatment here as the Hollywood starlet in this film adapted from Nathanael West's novel about tinsel town. This is a really interesting film poster as the cinema manager has decided in his wisdom to superimpose artwork from "Logan's Run" (which actually came out a year later) to replace what was just a boring title "The Day of the Locust". The artists name BYRD is featured printed just below this amendment. Whether he would have approved or not you'll have to check with the cinema manager. This is an example of how films were advertised sometimes and this film poster came from New Zealand where the film was clearly shown after its initial US release. The film poster is litho printed in the USA with just a small blemish on the lower left searchlight.
