The Blue Lamp

Filmed in black and white in 1949 by Ealing Studios "The Blue Lamp" gave a realistic depiction of the hard times that led some people to crime. An outstanding cast headed by Jack Warner as P.C. George Dickson with Dirk Bogarde and Jimmy Hanley also starring under the direction of Basil Dearden. Jack Warner was killed in the film by petty crook Dirk Bogarde but rose from the dead as Dixon of Dock Green on the TV after the success of this film.
