The Blue Angel

The printed signature of Chantrell is to be found by the high heel of the cabaret singer he has painted as "The Blue Angel" from 1959. This early artwork from the great British artist features a striking wholly appropriate blue background and a stunning portrait of May Britt in the title role fittingly take centre stage supported by two photos from the film. 20th Century Fox filmed this one in CinemaScope and their proud logo can be seen featured on the film poster. Great intense colours with just a few small areas retouched in the borders and the corner tip replaced at the bottom left and right. Pinholes in the corners.
