Although released in Australia in 1974 this film had to wait until 1980 for the UK cinematic release. The Australian film Mad Max had been so successful the previous year and biker films were very much in vogue too. Chantrell's clever artwork even gives the skull an Australian look and the same artwork was used on the VTC video sleeve.
