1980 brought us "The Long Riders" and 1982 "48 Hours" - in- between times Director Walter Hill was not sunbathing. The Louisiana swamps were his precise location and the year at issue 1973. The local Cajuns represented the Vietcong and the National Guardsmen the rookie GI's in this allegorical classic. To see this movie is to understand that for every action there is a reaction - but enough of that - to not see it is to miss one of the best films ever made.
