1956

Kenneth More, Muriel Pavlow, Lyndon Brook, dir: Lewis Gilbert

Kenneth More is pictured here in his best role ever as Douglas Bader the real life hero of the RAF who overcame losing his legs to continue courageously as a pilot during the Second World War. Printed by Charles & Read Ltd., London & Harlow. The quality of printing and colour on this first release British quad film poster is incredible. Featured on the film poster is the cover for the life story novel by Paul Brickhill "Reach for the Sky". British cinema has seldom featured a war biography with a more courageous hero as Douglas Bader who is painted here in superb detail. This film poster was created in 1956 for a film which was actually made in black and white. There is a 2 1/2 inch closed tear at the top centre fold which we have repaired to the reverse with archival tape and the poster has pinholes along the right and left borders. There are matchstick head size holes at the top and centre left and centre middle cross folds. The colours are really bright and vivid.
