This poignant film poster has survived from 1936 in remarkably good condition to tell the story of a true historical love story. Charles Boyer is pictured as Crown Prince Rudolf heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne together with the youthful Marie Vetsera a well born commoner. Having been denied a release from his loveless marriage Rudolph and Marie escape for 24 hours to Mayerling his hunting lodge. After the 24 hours passes he shoots her and then himself in a suicide pact. This 1936 film made Boyer an International heart throb. This sensitive and beautiful surviving film poster came from Kobenhavn. and was printed by Diva & Jeppesens Bogtrykkeri Aktieselskab. The film poster has just two small enlarged holes at the top in the "C" and just after the "R" of the name "Charles Boyer". Which we have repaired to the reverse with archival restoration tape. There is a small area of pink paper residue from where a snipe must have been removed at the very top border. Smashing old printers details at the foot. A real gem. The film poster has magnificent and sensitive use of colour for a film which was made in 1936 in black and white.
