Marilyn Monroe Sheffield Film Theatre

Rare original British promotional poster produced for Sheffield Film Theatre at the Central Library, featuring Andy Warhol's celebrated Marilyn Monroe image. An original early-1970s Sheffield Film Theatre poster incorporating an original Warhol image from Sheffield City Art Galleries' own collection.

The poster credits “Marilyn · Andy Warhol · Sheffield City Art Galleries” above the image. Sheffield's museum collection holds an original 1967 Warhol Marilyn Monroe screenprint, making this a particularly interesting piece of Sheffield's cultural and cinema history.

Produced during the period in which Sheffield Film Theatre operated from the Central Library (1967–1983), the poster combines Warhol's iconic Pop Art imagery with striking period typography in dark blue, pink and gold. We have only ever seen the one and it is in really good rolled condition with stunning colours.

An unusually scarce piece of British regional cinema and Pop Art ephemera paying tribute to Marilyn Monroe and to Andy Warhol.

Size: 15 × 25 inches.
