Saps at Sea

The Laurel and Hardy film "Saps at Sea" was first released in 1940 and this Belgian re-release film poster would have been produced for the re-release of the film at the cinemas during the 1950's or early 1960's. Stan and Ollie find themselves on a sea voyage which is prescribed by the Doctor to help Ollie recover from "Hornophobia" - to the uninformed this is an irrational fear of horns! The holiday not surprisingly descends into comical chaos with plenty of slapstick. The artwork concentrates on Stan climbing the mast barefoot while Ollie struggles at the helm in a very choppy sea. The film poster is in rolled condition with no pinholes and is a rare survivor from a Belgian cinema that saved it. The poster is printed by Sintal Typo-offset Dekensstraat 28,3000 Leuven.
