Diana Ross as Billie Holiday, Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor, Blues
This is a gorgeous poster. The Tamla Motown Record Label deserve our thanks for solely funding this marvellous biopic of jazz legend Billie Holiday. The Thirties ambience is captured perfectly as Holiday takes us on a ride of highs and lows. Diana Ross makes her film debut and has to age 20 years in a magnificent performance. Diana had an Oscar nomination but lost out to Liza Minelli in "Cabaret". This is a gorgeous poster and is different to other British quads as it features more shades of blue - entirely appropriate for a blues singer and noticeable particularly on the exquisite title font. The use of silver is very unusual for British quads and it works really well here with the blues. Folded paper poster as issued to the cinema with just a little fold wear most noticeable at the top left vertical fold we have put a thin piece of archival tape to the reverse of that fold line to strengthen the paper.
