Lady Caroline Lamb

This is the first time we have seen this particularly stylish British quad film poster. The usual suspect for the film is the one by Mike Bell for Feref which is completely different and in full colour. This John Farley illustration which we have just discovered has a great deal to recommend it although sadly we know little about the artist. This fine pen & ink portrayal of Sarah Miles as Lady Caroline Lamb is rightly the focus of our attention as her husband Robert Bolt wrote this historical drama specifically for his wife, Sarah Miles. The highly detailed illustration including grapes, oak leaves and flowers reflects the fertility of the lady who was married to a future Prime minister, had an affair with Lord Byron and was very much an extrovert causing a scandal in Regency society. This poster is one of the reasons we enjoy our hobby as we are always learning and discovering new film posters and even new artists hitherto unrecorded.
