Funeral in Berlin

Terrific 1966 first release film poster with a great painted portrait of Michael Caine as Harry Palmer in "Funeral in Berlin". This British quad film poster has an exceptional portrait of Michael Caine as the thinking man's spy thriller series enters its second chapter. The artist portrays the cold war vista in the background with the title emblazoned clearly and the addition of the Len Deighton novel from Penguin books. This film poster has been especially printed for the ABC cinema chain and more specifically "Birkenhead" complete with show dates. The publicity firm who organised this were Rex Publicity Ltd. and the film poster was printed in England by Lonsdale & Bartholomew of Nottingham. If we were to stick our neck out we would attribute this classy artwork to Renato Fratini but we have no concrete proof other than the quality and the style of the artwork and his availability in England conducting agency work at the time.
