Devil on Horseback

The British Lion logo is proudly displayed at the lower left of this film poster printed in England in 1954. Wonderful stone litho printing shows off the wide range of colours for what was of course a film made in black and white. The young jockey played by Jeremy Spenser achieves many winners but can be seen here been admonished by fellow jockeys because of his cruelty to the horses hence the title "Devil on Horseback". Excellent full colour artwork with fantastic portraits of Google Withers and John McCallum too and a great painting of the horses at the winning post. The artist has painted his initials "E.M.C" on this printed poster but we are unable to trace who he is. The film poster was printed by Stafford & Co. of Netherfield, Nottingham and London. We have applied 5 roughly 1 inch squares of restoration tape to the reverse mainly at the cross folds on the lower part plus a 1 inch wide 7 inch piece at the top right corner border to prevent edge wear the blue title written twice on the reverse which shows faintly through to the front.
