Carry on Cleo

This excellent rolled condition cinema poster is from the first release in 1962 and comes on heavier paper stock with a tongue in cheek "EXOTICOLOR" and tag-line "The funniest film since 54 B.C." This very popular and funny film had to be careful with it's advertising as the artwork for the British quad was the subject of a court case and was deemed too similar to the Elizabeth Taylor film "Cleopatra". This image here is very interesting as Amanda Barrie strikes a similar pose yet the subtle changes including the dinosaur head and feet to the bed and the humorous tag-lines were sufficient to avoid further problems. The characters under the bed are making a number of gestures while Amanda Barrie gives a knowing wink!
