Chester Morris, Janis Carter, William Wright

This 1944 British quad film poster was printed during the Second World War and due to war time paper shortages the reverse of the poster has part of a larger film poster from 1939. The film poster has a wonderful painted portrait of Chester Morris in the role of "Boston Blackie". Who was a former thief turned investigator to track down a rare stolen gemstone. His assistant is "The Runt" played by George Stone. Boston Blackie uses several disguises and different tricks to discover the thieves. Pictured also on the film poster is Janis Carter together with the police inspector Faraday played by Richard Lane who recruits Boston Blackie. At the right is a gloved hand pointing a pistol towards them. This rare quad film poster has a glorious Columbia Pictures logo at the lower left and was stone litho printed in England by Stafford & Co. Ltd. of Netherfield, Nottingham and London. The British Board of Film Censors threepenny bit certificate appears on the lower right together with a stock number. The film poster has the benefit on the reverse of part of a different poster with an even earlier wonderful example of a Columbia Pictures logo. A rare find from the Second World War period.
