In 1958 United Artists engaged Philip Yordan to screenwrite an all-black cast production again truer to his original Broadway play after he had produced earlier in 1949 an all-white cast version. This 1958 film poster printed in England by Charles & Read Ltd is the first release starring Eartha Kitt as Anna whose shady past as a sailor's whore catches up with her and almost destroys her chance at a fresh start. Sammy Davis, Jr. plays Danny and Elmer Bernstein provides the music. The film poster image portrays a used Eartha Kitt in classic prostitute pose by the lamppost with a knowing weary look. Inset on the left in the blue is the image of the ship and the sailor whose custom she relies on. A great film poster with just a small paper snag by Eartha Kitt's calf and a small archival repaired tear to the mid-right border.
