Rare original British cinema advertising poster produced to promote the January edition of ABC Film Review, the monthly film magazine associated with the ABC cinema circuit. Featuring wonderful period artwork and the greeting “A Happy Leap Year!”, with two blank display panels apparently intended for the addition of film stills or promotional material by the cinema. The January issue is advertised at its contemporary price of sixpence (6d). An unusual surviving piece of British cinema and ABC theatre ephemera.
The artwork features very 1960's comic caricatures and the film poster is a rare one - the first one we've every seen.
The January 1968 issue itself carried a New Year theme: its cover featured Tommy Steele celebrating with champagne, balloons and streamers, with the wording “Happy new year!”. The featured film was Half a Sixpence.
