A Town Like Alice

This is the first release British quad film poster from 1956 with artwork by the accomplished Italian artist Angelo Cesselon. A Virginia McKenna is painted as one of the women marched across Malaya by the invading Japanese. The BBC were later to produce the PoW drama 'Tenko' employing some of the cast. The Rank organisation who presented this film were instrumental through their overseas connections in giving opportunities to many Italian artists whose great talents would grace many a British film poster. This is an original first release film poster with magnificent high colour with the printed signature of the wonderful Italian artist A. Cesselon. The film poster has a 2 inch closed tear at the left border and a similar one at the bottom centre border which we have repaired with conservation tape to the reverse and they are hardly noticeable. Pinholes in the corners. A great survivor and a tribute to the ladies who overcame the struggle.
