Tiger Bay

This is the 1959 original British cinema quad for the thriller in which Hayley Mills makes her film debut at twelve years old. Set in Wales with the painted backdrop of Cardiff's Docklands. This was the first quad painted by Brian Bysouth. Brian designed the poster and produced the final illustration in his own time whilst in employment as a junior artist. The selection process by the Rank executives involved a preference for Brian's work over the Italian final artwork from studio Favalli by A. Cesselon. Difficult to imagine a better start for a junior artist! Features Bysouth;'s printed signature. Exceptionally strong vibrant colours on this British film poster with just a half inch trimmed neatly at the top and bottom and staining to the reverse which does not show through to the front. A great piece of cinema art history.
