The Lavender Hill Mob

This brilliant and subtle crime film spoof "The Lavender Hill Mob" was made in black and white in 1951 and is a classic starring Alec Guinness as the mild mannered bank agent who discovers he has a devious criminal mind leading him to steal gold bullion to the value of a £1 million. He recruits a gang including Stanley Holloway, Sid James and Alfie Bass in a film which also includes a walk on from Audrey Hepburn. The film won an Oscar for the story and screenplay and this wonderful film poster captures the scene perfectly. The film poster is an Australian daybill from the early 1970s and the reverse of the film poster carries a hand drawn cinema advertisement with diagrams for the film "Ben-Hur". A very interesting film poster and a great piece of cinema history. No pinholes.
