"Jaws" has arguably the most iconic photographic image ever displayed for a film. The tale of the great white shark directed by Steven Spielberg seems to grow ever more popular since its fifty year anniversary. This poster is of historic interest as it was produced by H. Bunch Associates the independent British publisher famous for producing a range of underground and original comic books between 1972 and 1975 including the underground magazine "Oz". Felix Dennis was the founder of the magazine which featured in a controversial obscenity trial. This historic poster was printed in England and published by H. Bunch Associates and bears a customer's specification label stickered "C9964-1012". We have never seen another one of these and we believe that this poster was a specification proof for Felix Dennis for marketing purposes. He was desperate to raise money in 1975 and had to don a suit and wave a cheque book to convince English publishers to print for him. We think the 'H' stands for 'Hairy' Bunch as photos of Dennis and his colleagues reveal that before he smartened up he had great difficulty in succeeding in the world of publishing and printing with his new image he went on to be extremely successful. This rare poster dates from 1975 and has brilliant colours with pinholes in the corners and very faint historic pink staining in two small areas at the centre top and bottom fold joins on reverse which show faintly on the front as seen.
