| Details | One of the best westerns ever made is matched here by arguably the best western artwork too. Italian artist Anselmo Ballester painted this image in 1950 with the stagecoach under attack by Geronimo and his Indian braves. One of the Indians is pictured jumping onto one of the trapped stagecoach horses looking to make an attack with his tomahawk. The cowboys are returning fire but this brilliant artwork reveals the ferocity of the Indian attack as they encircle the stagecoach. The use of blood red colour emphasises the intensity of the fight as can be seen in the painted faces of the braves and the fear on the horses faces. You will not see this artwork on any of the American film posters and this Italian classic artwork was so good that it was used here with the photo of John Wayne added for the 1960 cinema release. The signature of the artist "Ballester" appears printed to the mid left of the poster. The printers are N. Moneta Milano - Roma 1960. The film poster is in excellent linen backed condition and ready to hang on a wall. |
