| Details | History reminds us that Charles Chaplin bravely made this film in 1940 during the Second World War. Chaplin ridicules Hitler and the anti-semitic Nazi regime adopting the dual role of a Jewish barber and a dictator. Writing, directing and providing the music, Charles Chaplin said that at the time obviously he didn't know the full horror of the Nazis and if he had have done the film would have been even different still. This superb still from the film is on this British Film Institute rolled condition film poster from 2003. The slightest of corner creases at the bottom right tip. |
