| Details | The British quad film poster displays the iconic artwork of Clark Gable holding and embracing Vivien Leigh in this classic pose which when repeated on other film poster collectors refer to as the "Gone with the Wind" style film poster. The powerful artwork was painted by Howard Terpning including not just the classic pose but also many fine scenes from this watershed film. This particular film poster is a very rare example and ws especially printed for the Empire Cinema of Leicester Square,. London. The cinema advertises their own performance times, with bookable seats and even advertised the prices in shillings for different sections of the circle and the stalls. As regards the date of release of the poster the only thing we know for sure is that decimalisation occurred in 1971 so the poster must pre-date this. Printed in England by Lonsdale & Bartholomew of Nottingham and in folded condition as issued to the cinema with pinholes in the corners. |
