| Details | Rated amongst the very best of British movies about the Second World War this one has a film poster which many regard as the best Second World War film poster ever produced. Remember that the film was shot in black and white and then consider that this is the full colour artwork from 1954 - the year of the films first release. Painted centrally is Richard Todd as Wing Commander Guy Gibson who led the raid on the Dams of the Ruhr valley. Pictured with him are many of the brave crew together with two of the Avro Lancaster Mk III bombers which were specially adapted to carry the 'bouncing bombs' developed by Dr Barnes Wallis played by Michael Redgrave. The printing on this Country of origin British Quad is by Leonard Ripley & Co of Vauxhall S.E. 11 and Hampton Hill who have done a magnificent job as the colour variance and quality is just sublime and must be seen in the flesh to do it full justice. This is one of the very best and most important film posters we have had the pleasure to add to our website. Pinholes in the borders and two small closed tears in the top border which do not reach the artwork. Pencil date on reverse that does not show through. |
