Details | This is the first release 1942 British Quad film poster. It is an extremely rare find and the colours as you can see are really deep. The poster has the old thrupenny bit U certificate BBFC rating logo and advertises "Multiplane Technicolor Feature" which was the ground breaking photographic process for animation art developed by Walt Disney for his first full length animated film "Snow White" in 1937. The world premiere for "Bambi" was in London on August 9th 1942 with the national general release on January 1st 1943. Later re-releases would take many years to follow and would refer to "Technicolor" rather than the ground breaking "multiplane". The film poster above pictures the illustration of the book by Felix Salten (written in 1923) which does not appear again on film poster re-releases as by then Bambi needed no such introduction. This rare film poster was printed by Stafford & Co of Netherfield, Nottingham & London and was released during the Second World War. There won't be many of these that have survived partly due to paper shortage in the war and many posters being re-used and printed on the reverse. This film poster has a few indentations as seen at the lower middle by the censor mark and another just under the title plus a small area of paper lift at the top right by the branch of the tree. A few historic tape marks. This wonderful film poster has really deep colours and displays really well. |
