| Details | This interesting example has the word 'rape' changed for 'women' and was produced for the foreign market. The word change bears the same typography and in our opinion seems to be a professional snipe from the source of distribution revealing how uneasy people were at the time over the release - not without due reason. The aim of this change would appear to be to offend less people by the wording on the poster - a strange censorship gesture as the film content is never changed of course by changing the poster, indeed the argument is that the customer is then made less aware of the content within the film itself - not a great help when assessing suitability of viewing. Please note top left "Clockwork Orange one sheet" printers stamp on reverse of poster which shows through faintly to the front. |
