| Details | This CinemaScope British quad film poster tells the story of the Second World War film directed by David Lean with British prisoners of war under brutal treatment from their Japanese captors in Burma being forced to build a vital railway bridge for the enemy. Alec Guinness plays the dignified British colonel Nicholson in a film which won many Oscars. The 1958 Style A quad features the same artwork as this re-release Quad from 1963. The only difference being the tag line "Back Again". This is a difficult poster to find especially with the colours as vibrant as this example. The film poster was printed in England by W. E. Berry of Bradford and has gorgeous colours with good paper quality having found its way to a cinema in Malta and bearing the Malta cinema stamp at the top right. The poster has a very small area of paper infill at the top centre border with pinholes in the borders as seen. Great CinemaScope film poster even including the old Columbia Pictures lady with the lamp logo at the lower left. |
