| Details | This first release British quad dates from 1948 with printing by Stafford & Co. Ltd. of Netherfield, Nottingham & London. The production company were Republic pictures whose logo proudly appears at the bottom left with releasing in England by the British Lion Company whose full address appears together with their logo to the bottom right. John Wayne is pictured at the helm together with Gail Russell who falls in love with the sea fairer. "The Red Witch" is pictured on the high seas and is currently resident at the Hollywood wax museum. The title in the UK appears to have been simplified to "The Red Witch" as can be seen and we can only presume that the books cover has been blacked out so as not to cause confusion. A great old stone litho British quad. |
